Electric Challenge 2020 Stage 2 - A Gamer is You

Look at me dusting off my dreamwidth, lol. I am going to do some of the stages for Electric Challenge, a space where you talk about gaming. This looked like a really fun opportunity to talk about games. I don't know how much I'll do, seeing that I already missed four stages, lol. I will retroactively do some of them, starting with this one.

Stage 2: A Gamer is You

As much as we like to say we've been playing video games all our lives, each of us had to start somewhere and go from there. Today, in your own space, talk about your history as a gamer. Where did it all begin? When did it all begin? Which games had the biggest impact on you? And so on.

I always liked games, like nintendo and tetris stuff like that. I never got a game boy (my parents couldn't afford it) but my grandma got me a knock-off one where you couldn't switch games and only had like ten different versions of tetris and I honestly loved it. Played it a whole lot. Then I won a knock-off nintendo game station (again without the possibility of putting in more games) and played that a lot too. A friend also had the real thing and I loved Super Mario World, especially Yoshi, he was so cute.

Later, when I had my own computer I played some jump and run games, again some tetris and I'm sure some others that I don't really remember. I played snake on my phone a whole lot when that was popular and later some Angry Birds and other phone games.

My ex-husband introduced me to the world of RPG games and MMO's and I actually didn't like it all that much, played World of Warcraft for like five minutes but it wasn't for me. When Star Wars: The Old Republic got first released in 2012 he bought both of us accounts because the sci-fi aspect of it was far more appealing for me. We played a bit of that together and I played a bit on my own but ultimately I stopped. Years later, when I was already divorced for a long time, I thought about my old character in that game and eventually revisited it. And a funny thing happened, I loved it!

And when I say loved I mean 'played it every day several hours for over a year' loved. I made several more characters, bought myself a subscription for the new content and played basically everything there was. Eventually it tapered off and now I only play every now and then but I am still very fond of it. So, I'd say that is the game that had the most impact on me and the one I'll probably be talking about here the most.

At the moment, apart from sometimes playing SWTOR still, I mostly play Supercity, a Facebook game where you build your own city and manage it as the mayor. It is very cute and relaxing and it satisfies my love of numbers because there is a lot of things to count. :D Right now they have a Valentine's expedition challenge that is super cool, with awesome graphics and a lot of choice of what you want to do. I love it!
